Xativa weekend in Valencia

weekendA few miles south of Valencia we find the picturesque town of Sativa (or Sativa). Although at this time has become a modest town of 30,000 inhabitants, in the past enjoyed a great development. The result of this is its historical center, which is worth visiting.

From military buildings and its famous castle, passing, of course, for its churches and religious monuments, like the cathedral (or sue), the Royal Monastery of the Assumption and the churches of San Felix and San Pedro.

As for civil architecture, highlights the Alcidine (old market) and the birthplace of Pope Alexander VI (the infamous Borgia). Visiting all these places will take at least a day, with stops in a restaurant in town to enjoy a typical dish of rice with round or baked rice, dessert complemented with pumpkin pie or almonds (the almoixàvenes and the armada).

The weekend will be short but you cannot fail to make a trip to the Natural Park of the Cove Negara, within the municipality. Forgot to mention that in Sativa has an important range of accommodation from campsites and cottages to hotels of 3 stars.
